Dear Madam/Sir,
Do you have a standard module for ECD as a part of DHS Phase 8 or do countries adopt this module from other surveys such as MICS? Thanks in advance

Following is a response from DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:

The ECD module was used in several DHS surveys before DHS-8, but the Rwanda 2019-20 DHS-8 survey was the first one to include the module in its current form, even in the way the variables are coded and named in the KR file. You can look at the questionnaire, final report, and KR file for that survey to get a complete picture of how DHS includes it.

I think it is fair to say that the module was initiated by UNICEF and first used in MICS surveys, but DHS participated in its evolution and analysis. Here is a recent article that uses the data:
