Respected Sir / Madam,
I am a new user of the NFHS data set. Actually, I want to find out difference between men and women in India with respect to some indicators like health insurance coverage, educational attainment, wealth index, house type, etc. I have gone through the NFHS report for the year 2005 - 06 and it has explained some differences through percentages. I tried calculating the same in SPSS by finding out the frequencies in percentage form. However, my results are differing from those given in the report by 2 - 5 % points. Can you please tell me what is the reason for this difference and am I correct in finding out the frequency percentages using the Individual recode and male recode data set for finding out the difference between the two? Please do let me know.

Dear User,
A good place to start is to check to make sure you are looking at the weighted as opposed to unweighted frequencies. Most of the tables in our final reports are based on weighted numbers unless otherwise specified in the report.
