Hii

I am using KR file NFHS-4 & 5.
Variable v212 is to respondent's age at first birth.

My query is, is the age in a year the exact year or during that year?

I want keep a sample of those who gave birth before the completion of 18 years.

so syntax should be
keep if v212<18

or
keep if v212<=18

Thank you!

Following is a response from DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:

Age in DHS surveys always means age at last birthday. If you want to select women who had their first birth before their 18th birthday, you would use "keep if v212<18".
