Hi there,
Is it possible to merge two rounds of the KR files for the same country? I am looking at variables over time and would like to see them on the same file to see change in levels of child marriage etc. Could you help me with this? What variables would i need to use?
Best,
Ece Aydın

Following is a response from Senior DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:
You are talking about appending the two surveys into a single long file, rather than merging them case-by-case, which is not possible, because DHS surveys are independent of one another. In Stata the command is "append", and you can get its syntax with "help append". It will help to define a variable "survey" with survey=1 in the first survey and survey=2 in the second survey. Otherwise you can use the interview year (v007) to distinguish between the surveys. In the analysis, you would treat "survey" as a covariate, in the same way as place of residence (v025), for example.
