I have a few doubts about the variable Nightlights_Composite; these are as follows:
1) What is the methodology used for measuring composite? Is it like the annual average at the cluster level? Then it is not clear that for which year it has been taken.
2) For both files, the year mentioned in the description file is 2015; how it can be possible? I have tried to match at the cluster level for a few districts, but it didn't match. So, I need clarification on that.
3) Also, the mean and range of the Nightlights_Composite is declining from NFHS4 to NFHS5. I can suspect that COVID might be one of the reasons. But not sure, I needed further clarification.

You can find detailed information on the methodology and description of the geospatial covariates in the Geospatial Covariate Manual that accompanies the GC file. For NFHS4, the manual can be found here: https://spatialdata.dhsprogram.com/references/DHS_Covariates _Extract_Data_Description_2.pdf. For NFHS5, the manual can be found here: https://spatialdata.dhsprogram.com/references/DHS_Covariates _Extract_Data_Description_3.pdf. Please let us know if you have any additional questions after reviewing these materials.

Dear Sir,
I have followed both the description files very carefully. The year reported against nightlight composite (page 31 in NFHS IV and Page 28 in NFHS V) is 2015 only for both rounds. I am assuming that that is for different years. I need clarification concerning that.
Thanks

Thanks for your question. The manual is correct. The 2015 data was used for both NFHS IV and NFHS V.

Dear Sir/Ma'am
Thanks for the clarifications. For a quick check, I have also attempted to check and equate nightlight composites for states where the clusters were very nearby or equal. I didn't find any similarities, but that might be possible due to geo-masking. The data did not convince me that these are of the same 2015 for both IV and V rounds.

Thanks a lot for the clarification.
