Dear DHS experts,

I am using the Madagascar DHS 2021 data set, more specifically the children's recode (KR file).

When setting up the svyset, which variables should I use for "strata", v022 or v023?

v022 - sample strata for sampling errors
v023 - stratification used in sample design

When I tabulated them, it looks like the data is the same, should they be?

Thank you for your help
Kind regards,
Sofie

Following is a response from Senior DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:

Yes, in most of the recent DHS surveys, v022 and v023 are equal to each other, even though they have different labels. You can use either of them.
