Hello DHS folks!

Hope all is well there - I was curious about a couple of things in the DHS service availability module from 2014. It looks like all hospitals (co201_01 and co201_02) are operated by the government, even though the questionnaire has options for private hospitals. Might you have any insight on this? Seems in 2017-2018, the nearest hospital (co201_01) has at least some private operators.

Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
We've looked into this issue, and there is nothing on the backend that shows that the options were limited to only government facilities, nor any other tabulation issue that would have categorized them as all government. So there is no data quality reason that this is the case. If you look at the 2011 survey, there is only 1 non-government hospital that is nearest to the cluster, so it may just be dependent on the selected sample.

I hope that answers your question!

Best,
Sara
