Hi,

I noticed that there are no observations for the "completed primary" category of the v149 educational attainment variable in NFHS 5's individual recode file. However, about 6% of the respondents in NFHS 4 fell into this category. How should I ensure that the educational attainment in the two datasets (NFHS 4 and 5) is aligned? Are these now recoded as "incomplete secondary"?

Thanks in advance for the help! :)

Following is a response from Senior DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:

We apologize for the delay in this response.

To calibrate v133 in the NFHS-4 and -5 you can enter "tab 149 v133" for the two IR files. You will see that v133 is just a categorization of years of schooling, v149. If you want to get a better correspondence between v133 in the two surveys, you can do so by recoding v149.
