Hi
I am a PhD student and I'm trying to find the impact of maternal employment on child health in Egypt , I will control for the wealth index in the analysis.
I will use three years survey 2005-2008-2014
My question is
Can I use the wealth index in the KR dataset to compare across the years.? Or I should construct the comparative wealth index?
If the later question is yes, please any one provide me with stata command to construct it.
Thank you

Following is a response from DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:
A case could be made for using the CWI, but unfortunately we do not have code to construct it.
I believe you would get similar results if you use the regular wealth index, v190, as a control. It is a relative measure in each survey, but I'm sure the CWI would correlate very highly with v190, and the CWI would not change much in a 9-year interval in the same country. The main value of the CWI would be for comparing different countries and/or widely spaced surveys.
If you find much change across the three surveys in the distribution of the most relevant components of the wealth index, you could use them as controls, rather than v190.
