I am using BDHS 2017-18 data, although other survey years has NGO involvement variables (e.g., s114.. in BDHS 2011 & 2014, s116.. in BDHS 2007, and s118.. in BDHS 1999-00 and 2004), I cannot see it in 2017-18. Could you please tell me how can I get it? I have looked multiple files but cannot see it

Following is a response from Senior DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:

In the earlier surveys you listed I can find variables in the IR files that refer to brac, brdp, asha, proshika, mother's club, and grameen bank, but no such variables in the 2017-18 survey. It appears that the questions were dropped from the 2017-18 survey. You could confirm this by searching for keywords in the questionnaire, which is in an appendix to the final report. If the questions were dropped it may be that the frequencies in the earlier surveys were too low for useful analysis.

Hi Bridgette,

Thank you so much for the response.

The question was not dropped (Q 114 in the report). In fact, the data is present in the BDHS 2017-18 report (Table 15.3) but not in the dataset. Could you please check again?

Following is a response from Senior DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:

For the 2017-18 survey, the data for Chapter 15 of the final report, including table 15.3, were obtained in a separate "Community Questionnaire". This questionnaire is given in the final report, starting on page 445. On our website you will find "Service Availability Raw", with the Stata data in "BDSQ7RDT.zip". Let us know if you have difficulty matching table 15.3.
