Dear Dr Tom and other DHS experts,

Very recently, it came to my attention that the Calendar in the 2011 Ethiopia DHS data
should first be converted to GC before analysis.
My objectives were to do regression analysis for maternal services (ANC, SBA, PNC C/s delivery).
One of my independent variables is maternal age at birth.
I carried out the analysis before converting the data to GC. Does it affect my analysis?
does it also affect my descriptive statistics?
Should I then re-do my analysis?

Following is a response from Senior DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:

Ethiopia, Nepal, and Afghanistan have their own calendars. If you start changing the dates in those surveys, you will probably just introduce errors and inconsistencies. It's best to use the dates as they are coded. You can give dates in the Gregorian calendar in your presentation of results (for example, when referring to the dates of the surveys) but there are actually very few places where you will need to do this. See page 1.28 in the Guide to DHS Statistics ( https://www.dhsprogram.com/Data/Guide-to-DHS-Statistics/inde x.cfm).
