For a study on health and migration in Indonesia, I want to look at female emigrant households.
However, the variable mv404 ("Is your (wife/partner) living with you now or is she staying elsewhere?") is missing. Is there a reason for that and is there any way I can get access to that information?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Dear User,
You were originally looking at QM404 in the Indonesia DHS 2012 Man's questionnaire "Is your (wife/partner) living with you now or is she staying elsewhere".
1st the questionnaire number QM404 does not translate to recode variable MV404. The variable you want to look at is MV505. The exact code in the recode application is:

{ wife living with respondent }
MV504 = QM404;
{ number of wives }
box QM405 => MV505;
2 => 1; { one wife }
1 => QM406;
=> QM405;
endbox;

The Standard Recode Manual will assist you. It can be found on our website and can be downloaded. http://dhsprogram.com/pubs/pdf/DHSG4/Recode6_DHS_22March2013 _DHSG4.pdf

Another useful resource is the Guide to DHS Statistics http://dhsprogram.com/publications/publication-dhsg1-dhs-que stionnaires-and-manuals.cfm Both of these resources are bookmarked.

The section on Using Datasets for Analysis, may also be useful to you. http://dhsprogram.com/data/Using-Datasets-for-Analysis.cfm

If you have additional questions, please feel free to post again.
Thank you!

Thanks so much, Liz. I had two people looking at the dataset who have worked with it before and neither of them were able to figure it out. I really appreciate your efforts!
