Hi,

I have downloaded all the stata files for India and I have searched for the sibling composition variable but I am unable to find it in the data provided by DHS. It would be great if someone could guide me on how to access that information. I tried search =ing for variable mm1 as mentioned in the data dictionary, however there were no results. Siblings, brother and sister search words also don't show any variable in the data.

I have tried searching it in the IR (Independent Records) file as well.
Please help me out.

Following is a response from DHS Research & Data Analysis Director, Tom Pullum:

Are you looking for sibling histories that are used in many DHS surveys to estimate adult and maternal mortality? The module for that purpose was not included in any of the India surveys. Decisions to omit or include modulex are made by the country, not by DHS.
