Hello,

I am new with the working of the DHS datasets, and I am currently working with the DHS 2015-2016 (India) dataset. I am facing two questions regarding the merging of the dataset, and would be thankful for a response.

(1) I was trying to merge the women's file (IR) and the male's file (MR). The IR file surveys one woman from each household of reproductive age (irrespective of marital/living together status) and the MR file surveys one random male from a household (irrespective of marital status/living together status). The CR file then merges the married/ living together couples from the IR file and the MR file. This implies that the CR file is just a subset of the the IR and the MR file , but only includes couples and not single individuals. This also implies that it consists of all the variables in the IR file (example the birth history of a woman) and all the variables in the MR file. Am I correct in my interpretation.

(2) I now want to merge the CR file with the HR file as I want to merge the couples information to the households they belong to. For example, knowing if a couple in the IR file belonged to a below poverty line household. Is that possible?

Thank you.
