The DHS questionaire only includes limited information about disability. It is important to collect reliable information about the lives of disabled people and the UN Washington Group on Disability Statistics (led by the CDC) has developed and agreed six short questions on disability for use in surveys and the national census. Details can be found at

http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/washington_group/wg_questions.htm

The six validated questons about adult disability are below - a similar short question set about child disability is under development by the Wasington Group.
