Is there any reason why the DHS reports DEFT instead of DEFF? Not sure if one is more advisable than the other. DEFF is often used for sample size calculation.

Following is a response from DHS Lead Statistician, Ruilin Ren:

DEFF vs DEFT is like variance vs standard error, there is no preference. As DEFF is often used for sample size calculation, DEFT is more convenient for confidence interval calculation. Since DHS reports standard error and confidence interval for key DHS indicators, so we report DEFT instead of DEFF for convenience.
