When doing a comparison study of rural and urban households using the South Africa 2016 DHS, for wealth index, is it okay if i use the Wealth index urban/rural (HV270A) for both urban and rural samples or can i use HV270 (Wealth index combined)for urban and rural subsets?

Thank you very much

Following is a response from DHS Research & Data Analysis Director, Tom Pullum:

To compare urban households with rural households, it would be better to use hv270. hv270a is more appropriate for within-urban and within-rural comparisons.
