Dear DHS,
I was wondering if you could share with me the NCD indicator do file for Ghana DHS 2014 or any of the latest data with biomakers.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Winfred

I had this problem with the Haitian data base, that mean, i did not see the variables related to the diabetes in the IR or MR file, but, you can identify these variables in the PR file. In the case of Haiti, the variables related to diabetes name: shb263c and shb381a, maybe, it is the same for Ghana. One the other hand, to identify the sample (to cut the sample) i had to use the shb263 and shb361b.

According to the methodology of the DHS of Haiti, information related to diabetes and hypertension was collected in women and men aged 35-64 for 1/3 of households. Using the individual files (IR or MR) for the hypertension calculation (for example, s1112c s106cc in IR file), I find a sample different from the member file (PR).The sample of the individual file (IR or MR) corresponds to the information displayed in the final report.
My problem is that I cannot only use the data from the individual files (IR or MR) because the diabetes (shb263b or shb381) is not in the individual files. It is a major problem that the guide or recoding manual does not mention this module related to these chronic diseases. We cannot find the variable names, the denominator, etc.

Following is a response from DHS Research & Data Analysis Director, Tom Pullum:
This Haiti survey included measurements of hemoglobin, etc., for children 5-14. The shb* variables in the PR file were not copied into the IR and MR files (or the KR file) because of that age limitation. You can only analyze those variables using the PR file.
