Dear Expert,

I want to compute the spousal age gap using the NFHS 2015-16, India on stata.
Could you please guide me how to compute the spousal age gap.
I have tried computing the age at first marriage by taking help from other suggestions that you have mentioned on the forum, one in which you have explained by taking the Kenya dataset but when i tried using the same, my computed median age at marriage was different from the one mentioned in the India file, table 6.2, pg - 165.
please explain me how to compute the spousal age gap using NFHS 2015-16 India on stata.

Following is a response from DHS Research & Data Analysis Director, Tom Pullum:

You can do this for currently married couples with the CR file (IACR74FL.dta). Then enter "gen age_gap=mv012-v012". There is not a reliable way to calculate it for women or men who are not currently married.

but how to compute the age gap for DHS 1992-93 and 1998-99, because the CR file is not available for both these DHS.
Kindly help me to understand this.
