Within the household questionnaire of DHS, measures of height, weight, hemoglobin and HIV are currently only taken for women and men up to the age of 49. With anaemia a very common hematological condition in older people, increased data is needed on this issue to provide greater understanding of older people's health needs and how best to respond. Expanding DHS to include people aged 50 and over, including for these measures, would provide this data.

The need for increased HIV testing among people in their 50s and over is addressed in the HIV section of the forum.
