The joint PMI/MCH/HIV team had a question about women who present with illness at ANC. We had a specific concern about case management for malaria in pregnancy, but it could equally apply to other illnesses. If a women presents with any signs of illness at ANC, how is she handled? For example, if she has a fever, is she treated in ANC or sent to another unit of the facility. Perhaps this could be explored with a simple question:
a. When you visited ANC for a check-up, were you feeling ill (fever, cough, etc.).
b. If YES, were you treated in the ANC unit or asked to go elsewhere in the facility for treatment.
