I am having difficulty understanding/reproducing the results presented in the table on page 156 of the DHS 2011 Mozambique report. Any help that could be provided would be greatly appreciated.

Specifically, the far right column indicates the number of children sampled in each of the country's 11 provinces. Taking Nampula, as an example, it indicates that the anthropometric calculations are based on data from 1,560 children. Yet when I use the individual recode data set and limit returns to Region 3, I get just 721 valid (non-NA) responses to columns HC5_1 - HC5_7. When using the household recode data (on columns HW5_1 through HW5_5) it returns 817 responses. None of the figures given in the table for sample size for each province agree with my tallies, regardless of which recode I use, despite the fact that the sum for the country as a whole does agree.

Thank you very much.

Dear User,
Are you using the weight variable in your calculations? If that does not work, please feel free to post again. Please visit this link for more information on using the weights: http:// www.dhsprogram.com/data/Using-DataSets-for-Analysis.cfm#CP_J UMP_14042
Thank you!
