Good morning DHS team and users,

Do you know the operational definition of variable Highest Educational Level? In the data available, maternal education (V106) contains four groups, those are no education, primary, secondary, and higher. Can you explain to me what is the definition of primary, secondary, and higher? is Senior High School included in secondary or higher?

Thank you,

Dear User,
These are often country-specific. In order to properly address your question, we need to know which survey and year you are working with and also which dataset. In the meantime, I will also refer you to the Standard Recode Manual on our website http:// www.dhsprogram.com/pubs/pdf/DHSG4/Recode6_DHS_22March2013_DH SG4.pdf
Take a look at P12.
Thank you!
