Dear DHS Team and user;
I am currently working with the DHS data and I am looking for a variable that could be used as a proxy to inform on whether the women is the one effectively doing the cooking but not any third person or housewife. There is the variable v721 " respondent works at home' available in some Sub Saharan Africa DHS survey but I am not sure what the variable means. Could you please provide me with further guidance on this issue very critical for my current research? Also, How could I get the list of Sub Saharan African countries having information on the variable v721 as observations on this variable and not so consistently available.
Best;
Soazic Elise WANG SONNE

Dear User,
V721 Whether the respondent works at home or away from home. This question is no longer part
of DHSVI or DHSVII core questionnaire. The variable is kept in the recode application, but in the data and in the frequencies it will most likely be N/A (not applicable). You will most likely find the variable in surveys with a recode prior to DHSVI. These surveys would most likely be from 2008 and before. Thank you!
