Dear all,
Using the Births Recode of the Uganda DHS 2006, I would like to identify all observations in the Karamoja region (i.e. Kotido, Abim, Kaabong, Moroto, and Nakapiripirit districts). On the regional level, all observations of the Karamoja region are included in the Northern region. Does anybody know where I can find the respective names for each of the 56 districts (variable 'sdist' in the Births Recode) of the Uganda DHS 2006? Variable 'sdist' only specifies every district with a particular number (e.g. 105) without any further specification of the district's name.
Thank you so much in advance!

We do not have the names that correspond to the district codes in the BR file (variable shdist).
You can however, use the GPS data to link to a district administrative file, to be able to estimate the likely district for the cluster locations.
Please note that the GPS data is geo-masked such that the points are displaced 0-2 km in urban areas and 0-5 km in rural areas with 1% of rural ares displaced up to 10 km. In the Uganda 2006 dataset the displacement MAY cross district borders.
For more information on doing this linkage and on the GPS displacement please refer to the geographic thread in this forum.
