Hello everyone,
I'm trying to merge the Wealth Recode with the Children and Household Recodes for Ghana (1993 and 1998 surveys) on RStudio and I don't know how to do it, since it's different from v001, v002 and v003 which I'm using. Can somebody help, please? I'm trying to make 1993 and 1998 surveys comparable with the other waves, which have hv270 directly assigned in the Household Recode.

In the older DHS datasets like Ghana 1993 and 1998, WHHID in the Wealth Recode is a string identifier created by combining the cluster (v001 or hv001) and household number (v002 or hv002), padded with spaces. You can use R's substr() or string extraction functions to extract v001 and v002 from WHHID before merging with your Household or Children's Recode using those keys.
