Hello everyone, I am working on a report on FGM trends in Nigeria and trying to understand what appears to be significant variations in FGM prevalence at the state-level between 2018 and 2024. I am wondering how much of this could be explained by increased state-to-state migration, particularly in areas affected by conflict and insecurity. I have reviewed sample sizes and enumeration areas to try to understand these variations but still can't quite develop a coherent narrative that effectively explains the differences.

Inclusion of the MICS 2021 data creates even more confusion with fluctuations in prevalence that drop and rise between the 2018-2024 period.

Any and all insights welcome.

Thanks very much
