Hello,

I am working with the Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey (BDHS) 2022 PR dataset for my research study. While reviewing the dataset, I noticed that the variables for Religion and Current Occupation are not available in the PR file.

Could you please clarify:

Whether these variables are included in another dataset (e.g., HR, IR, MR, or BR files) instead of PR?

If they were intentionally excluded from the BDHS 2022 release, is there any documentation explaining this change?

Are there alternative variables or derived indicators that can be used to capture religion and occupation information for household members?

Any guidance or references to the correct dataset/variable names would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Best regards,
Rafi

These variables are usually in the IR file (they are collected as part of the women's questionnaire). See v130 for religion, v716/v717 for woman's occupation, and v704/v705 for husband's occupation.

Thank you very much for your advice. I truly appreciate the guidance.
To make sure I fully understand, could you please explain more clearly how I can construct a single variable for "Occupation" that covers both the respondent (female) and the husband (male)?
Specifically, I would like to know the steps for merging the PR dataset with the IR dataset so that I can generate one combined occupation variable.

I am eager to learn the exact procedure, as this will help me ensure consistency in my analysis. I look forward to your detailed clarification and guidance.
