Hello Friends,

I am using syncmrates command to calculate child mortality rates. I find no problem with NFHS-3, NFHS-4 & NFHS-5. However, I cannot get CMR and U5MR rates for NFHS-1 & NFHS-2. Please help. Thanks

Following is a response from DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:

Those rates were published in the original reports. Why do you want to re-calculate them?

The under-5 rates are calculated from the BR file and the only variables they use are v005, v008, v011, b3, and b7. All of those variables are in IABR23FL.dta and IABR42FL.dta. I have no idea why the program you are using (which is not a DHS program) is unable to produce the rates.
