Hi,

Are the shapefiles of the boundaries of enumeration areas available? In particular, I am referring to the polygons labeled "918, 919, 920, etc." in Figure 5 (p. 18) at the DHS GIS document:

index.php?t=getfile&id=310&private=0

Many thanks.

Thanks for your post.

The DHS Program does not make available shapefiles of enumeration areas (EAs), only the displaced coordinates of the cluster locations and the boundaries of the survey regions. This is in accordance with our geographic data release policy as outlined in the Spatial Analyst Report 7 ( http://dhsprogram.com/publications/publication-SAR7-Spatial- Analysis-Reports.cfm)

The figure that you mention is intended only to be illustrative. Survey implementing agencies do not routinely provide shapefiles of EAs to The DHS Program. For some countries, you may be able to find shapefiles of census EAs online, for example on the Humanitarian Response website https://www.humanitarianresponse.info/applications/data/data sets. However, many governments consider this to be sensitive information and prefer not to make the data public.

For some general information about the spatial dimensions of the EAs used for sampling, please see this other user forum thread http://userforum.dhsprogram.com/index.php?t=msg&th=57&am p;start=0&S=ec2d88b675abff3e49ca8eecb81d9c64.

If this has not answered your question adequately, please reply.
