Difference between PCV and Pneumococcal vaccine? [message #25080]

Dear DHS staff,

I am working on the Rwandan 2010 DHS data. I see two variables, one asking whether the child had PCV vaccine, the other asking whether the child had Pneumococcal vaccine. Would you kindly point out the difference between PCV and the Pneumococcal vaccine for me? Thank you!!

Following is a response from DHS staff member Joanna Lowell:

PCV (pneumococcal conjugate vaccine) and pneumococcal vaccine are the same. I'm guessing here that one variable might correspond to the card and the other to mother's recall. If you look at the QRE (see below), you can see that when the card was seen, it was called "pneumo" whereas in the recall the vaccine was referred to as PCV.
