I would like to examine whether birth certificate/registered of children influences the equity impact of vaccination in children aged 12-23 months in Nigeria. I am using the 2018 dataset.

A birth certificate code is in the DHS7 recode manual as HV140 (QH20). When I have examined the dataset in stata, HV140 is not there. However, the final report for Nigeria 2018 includes birth certificate data for children aged 0-4 years.

Am I misunderstanding the meaning of HV140 as relating to birth certificate for children aged 0-4 years? Is the birth certificate data under a different code?

Many thanks
Sarah

Please see the following response by Data Processing Specialist, Hanna Useem:

The birth registration are country specific variables, SH20A (birth registered), SH20B (authority with which birth is registered), and SH20C (birth certificate seen).
