Dear Sir/ma'am My supervisor told me to create balanced panel data from the last 4 rounds of DHS data conducted in 1992,1998,2005 and 2015 on Indian DHS known as NFHS. The individual women should be the same in all the rounds of DHS as I want to run a mixed effect, fixed and random effect model on the newly created panel data. My query to you is that is it feasible to create a panel data in which each individual women is treated as same in all the rounds of DHS, if Yes then please suggest me how can I create a balanced panel.

Thanks in Advance.

Following is a response from DHS Research & Data Analysis Director, Tom Pullum:

The subjects in successive rounds are completely different. No respondent appears in successive rounds. The surveys are repeated cross-sections and are not part of a larger panel design.

Thanks for your response, Sir I understand that women's in each round are entirely different. Sir My question to you is that Is it possible to create Panel data on Individual women(IR) File by taking 1992,1998,2005 and 2015 DHS for India. If you know any method to create panel data by combining all the four years data then please tell me.

Thanks in advance.

Following is another response from DHS Research & Data Analysis Director, Tom Pullum:

To me, the term "panel data" means re-interviews of the same people. You say you understand that the women in each round are entirely different. That means that you do not have a panel design, and you cannot construct a panel design.

Perhaps another user can suggest something.
