I would like to ask regarding the final report for Cameroon 2011, particularly on page 247 (Table 14.11.1) of the final report.
Did you use the total number of women (aged 15-49 years) as denominator to produce the percentage of women who were "ever tested for HIV"?
If yes, I would like to ask, how did you get the total sample of 7,457 women (found at the bottom right of Table 14.11.1)? Because for Cameroon in 2011, there were 15,426 women samples.
I don't know where the 7,457 women samples came from.

Thank you in advance for clarifying! It would be a great help for my doctoral research.

I have the same question regarding the 2011 data for Cameroon with 7,457 women yet there were 15,426 in the sample size. However, I do not see a response. Is there a response to this question on a different thread?

Thank you to anyone who can help

Dear User(s),
Chapter 1 of the final report contains information about this.
Quote:

All women aged 15-49 who usually live in selected households, or present night before the survey, were eligible to be investigated. In addition, in a sub-sample of households a sample of approximately 7,500 men aged 15-59 were also surveyed. In this subsample, all eligible women and men for the individual survey were also eligible for the HIV test.

A response from Senior SamplingExpert, Dr. Ruilin Ren,
Quote:

It is a well-known practice in all DHS surveys which includes a HIV module and a male survey, the module will be restricted to the sub-sample of households selected for male survey, so was the Cameroon DHS 2011. Though it might not be mentioned explicitly in the text of the chapter, the questionnaire indicated clearly that the HIV knowledge and HIV testing are restricted to the households selected for male survey (See page 518 of the report). So the 7457 women in table 14.11.1 were from the households selected for male survey.

Thanks

Ruilin
