I am looking at the 6A HIV data for Liberia in Stata (file name = "LBAR6ADT"). The values for the hiv03 variable (with coding) are:

"hiv negative" (0)
"hiv positive" (1)
"hiv2 positive" (2)

What does the final value mean? Is it the coding for "indeterminable?"

Dear User,
The value set in the dictionary is as follows:
HIV negative 0
HIV positive 1
HIV2 positive 2
HIV1 & HIV2 positive	3
ERROR : V-, W+, M+	4
ERROR : V-, W+, M-	5
ERROR : V-, W-, M+	6
Indeterminant	7

7 is the code for indeterminant.

Is this data dictionary applicable to all data sets with values of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7?

I am working with data from 20 countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

Dear User,
They should all be very similar, but best to look at each recode dictionary for the datasets you are working with to make sure you catch any variations.
Thank you!
