I need some guidance on how to recode the ethnicity variable in Cote d'Ivoire DHS 2011/2012 to match the standard DHS report. It has more than 60 strata.

Many thanks

Dear User,
A response from Senior Data Processing Expert, Mr. Guillermo Rojas:

This is how ethnicity was recoded for the final report. I think that we have already answered this question:

Quote:

{ ethnicity }
box MV131 => v131w;
101-111,114,122-126,144,150,154,169 => 1;
112,115,119,130-132,134,136,139,141,142,145,153,155,159,166, 167 => 2;
113,120,127,129,135,138,143,148,149,156,157,160 => 3;
128,133,151,158,165,168 => 4;
116-118,121,137,140,146,147,152,161-164 => 5;
170,200-700 => 6;
171,missing => 99;
=> default;
endbox;
