I am a new user that has been given access to the Sierra Leone Malaria indicator survey 2013 datasets about two weeks ago. However I have noticed that some of the variables are missing from the datasets ie Final results of malaria blood smear test (HML 32), record results of malaria RDT, etc. These variables are key to the proposed project/research (ie Factors that determine a Child`s likelihood of having Malaria in Sierra Leone). Wondering if you guide me on how to locate these missing datasets or alternatively make it available to me in other to progress with my research projects?.

Your good office`s effort in attending to this request is appreciated and I am thankful in anticipation for making these additional datasets available.

Kindest regards.

Taimu

A response from senior malaria expert, Cameron Taylor:

Dear User,
Thank you for your question. In 2013 there were two surveys conducted in Sierra Leone, a Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) and a Malaria Indicator Survey (MIS). If you applied for dataset access on The DHS Program website you are looking at the DHS dataset which did not collect parasitemia data. The DHS Program only offered technical assistance to the MIS survey and is not authorized to distribute the dataset. If you would like to analyze the MIS dataset you will need to contact the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) or Catholic Relief Services (CRS) directly to obtain dataset access.
