Dear DHS staff, I am looking at predictors of exclusive breastfeeding among children less than 6 months in Ethiopia. By definition, children who were breastfed in the last 24 hours and did not take any solid or semi solid foods and liquids except for medicine and supplements. What variables should I choose to compute this outcome variable. I am using the children's dataset and am exploring only the last born children. I would like my outcome variable to be a dichotomous outcome of yes or no. I am using SPSS to compute.

I noticed that M39A variable gives information on whether the child took any solids or semisolids in the previous day. However, except for number of times breastfed the previous night, I cannot find a variable that shows children were breastfed in the last 24 hours. Although there are varibales v407 and v408 which reports on number of times breastfed during previous night and day, there are no values in those columns.

Please advise.

Thanks,

Kind regards,
James.
