Hi,
I am trying to understand the selection of women to the domestic violence module (using a pooled data set from the Peru DHS).
When I crosstab the Selection for domestic violence module V044 with any of the DV variables, e.g. Ever experienced any emotional violence, I get results that puzzle me. For example, the category "woman not selected" has responses to the DV questions. This is also true for the "woman selected, but privacy no possible". What is the explanation for this?
I also find it strange that so few respondents (except those not selected) have missing responses to the DV module when running frequencies on these items. Is there any explanation for this? I have tried to find response rates for the different years for the DV module, but have not succeeded. Can you help here?
Thanks in advance,
Helga

Dear User,
Here is a response from Dr. Shea Rutstein:
I looked at the Peru 2010 data. 17033 women were selected and interviewed. In a question that applies to all women selected and interviewed (ever maltreated by mother), there are 17033 responses. In a question for ever-married women (is your husband affectionate with you), there are 12880 responses and 4153 not applicables, which sums to 17033 total responses.
