Dear all,

I intend to construct a Wealth Score over every DHS survey for Africa between 1992 and 2013 in order to compare wealth levels across countries and time. I am using Stata 16.
Is there a Stata code for the construction of the DHS wealth score that I could loop over the different DHS surveys ?

Thank you very much in advance for your response.

Best regards,

Mathilde

Sorry for the delay in a reply to your question. We don't have Stata code for the calculation of the wealth index - we currently produce the wealth index in SPSS. The SPSS code can be found on the Wealth Index Construction page. This you could translate into Stata without too much difficulty. However a bigger challenge is that the wealth index is calculated differently for each survey (as can be seen by the different code used for each survey). In fact the wealth index is not comparable across countries or across time. It is a relative index within each survey that is useful for comparing households or individuals within one survey.
