I am writing to inquire which states the 2014-2015 DHS in India will cover. This will help us avoid collecting similar (anthromopetry) data for IFAD-funded projects in the country.

Also, i've noticed that the status is Not Yet Available, which is defined elsewhere in the site as "survey completed but data are being finalised and not yet ready for release". Could you kindly confirm whether this definition/status is indeed applicable to India 2014-2015 DHS?

Many thanks

We are working on a response to your first question.

In answer to your second question, the availability status for India 2014-15 was inaccurate, and has been corrected.

Thanks

Following is a response from the India 2014-15 Country Manager, Blake Zachary:

NFHS-4 will cover all 29 states and 6 union territories. In addition, most indicators (including anthropometry) will be available at the district level.

Thank you for this.

IFAD has projects in a number of districts in about 9 different states, so this will be very useful for us.

May I verify with you whether the sample will be taken from each district in India; or will a subset of districts be selected randomly from each state? (implying that data will be available only for selected districts in each state, not for all districts).

Thank you again.

(As additional info, these are the states where IFAD is working and would seek district-wide anthropometry data for project design/evaluation purposes: Odisha; Jharkhand; Maharashtra; Madhya Pradesh; Rajasthan; Uttar Pradesh; Bihar; Uttarakhand; Tamil Nadu; Assam; Meghalaya; and Manipur)
