	| Hello,
I am using SAS version 9.4 to analyze the 2007 BDHS dataset. I am trying to figure out what the responses for the "wealth status" (variable v190) in the IR file for 2007 BDHS are equal to. I am not sure what the 1, 2, 3,4, 5 are categorized once I open the dataset. How can i determine what the values mean?

	| Following is a response from DHS staff member Tom Pullum:
The usual names for this variable are "wealth index" or "wealth quintiles". The index is based on a wide range of household assets, including such characteristics as type of flooring and access to an improved source of water. The labels for categories 1 to 5 are poorest, poorer, middle, richer, and richest, but there are alternative labels. For much more information, visit the following on the DHS website: https://www.dhsprogram.com/topics/wealth-index/index.cfm .
