Hello,

I am trying to work with the calendar data from the Ghana 2003 survey, in Stata. I have noticed a problem in the vcal_1 variable (Births, pregnancies and contraceptive use). Method of contraceptive use is coded as blank in this survey, which would be fine, except that no blanks (for contraceptive use) precede the first incidence of a pregnancy. For all women, pregnancy is then recorded as occuring in the right most value of vcal_1; in other words it is impossible to determine the cmc of a pregnancy since it is not recorded relative to the first column in the calendar. I have attached a screenshot to demonstrate this.

/index.php?t=getfile&id=1505&private=0

As you can see - the first column of each record is "P", which would imply that all women became pregnant at the beginning of the calendar. This is clearly incorrect.

Do you know if there is any way to determine the correct cmc of each pregnancy in the Ghana 2003 survey?

Thanks,
