I read the sampling manual of DHS ,september 2012. The sample size formula given is deft^2*(1/p-1)/a^2 (without adjustment of response rate)
While usually for cross-sectional surveys we used simple asymptotic formula deft*1.96^2 *p*(1-p)/a^2 . Can you please explain the difference in the two.
Moreover , The sample size calculation formula for MICS survey use relative margin or error (o.15(p))^2 or (o.12(p))^2 . Why is it important to use relative margin or error instead of absolute margin of error?
