I have a question on the documentation for the 2016 Uganda DHS (HR) (UGHR7AFL.DTA).

In the codebook (UGHR7AFL.MAP), I see variable SH22 that asks, "Ever been vaccinated for HPV" with 0 as no, 1 as yes, 8 as don't know and 9 as missing. However, in the actual .dta file, I see that sh22 has 27 different options from sh22_01 to sh22_27, with each labelled "ever been vaccinated for hpv". I'm wondering if there's any sort of sub-labelling or codebook in addition to UGHR7AFL.MAP where I can differentiate the responses to this question.

Thank you very much!

Using IPUMS DHS, I see that this question is asked of about all female household members, ages 10 to 14 years old. The _01 to _27 mean that the survey allowed the question to be asked of up to 27 girls. If you want to conduct an analysis of these girls, you would select Household Members as your unit of analysis in IPUMS DHS. You could also use the original DHS PR file.

Please cite IPUMS DHS for its documentation, even if you don't use it to construct your dataset.

I hope you find this helpful.
