Dear folks,

I was trying to replicate Table 8.20 of NFHS 4 National report. But the total number of recent births in health facilities is not matching. I was using m15_1 to calculate the total number of the most recent live birth among women age 15-49 in a health facility and the sum of any health facility deliveries is not matching with the total number of births in a health facility in table 8.20 i.e. 1,49,770. Below is the tab1 output of "m15_1" in R.

Following is a response from Senior DHS Stata Specialist, Tom Pullum:

Table 8.20 requires a minor recode of m15_1. Public facilities are those with m15_1 in the range 20 to 29. Private facilities have codes 30-39. If you do that recode and use the weight v005 you will be able to reproduce the denominators in the table. The cost of the delivery comes from the variable s449_1.
