Hi, I have a quick question I am hoping someone can help with. I am working with the v304_n variables, wanting to sort them into three dummies; modern, traditional, and folkloric. When I went through the individual variables, I saw one of the value lables in v304_04 is "not in contraception table, but as a current method". I do not understand what this means. Can this be put under yes or no?
Thanks for any help!

I believe that such a response counts as a Yes. "The contraceptive table" refers, I believe, to the list of contraceptive methods that respondents are asked about, in terms of whether they had heard of and used the listed method. The methods included in a particular country's "contraceptive table" is not exhaustive, and there's usually a final open-ended question about "Anything else? What was that?" For example, a questionnaire might not have a specific question related to emergency contraception or to "menstrual regulation" but a woman might report that she used one of those methods for family planning, In such a case, I believe the response would be coded as "not [listed] in contraceptive table but [used] as a current method" by the respondent. You may wish to check what methods were included in the contraceptive table, by reviewing the woman's questionnaire in the appendix of final reports for samples you are interested in.
I hope this helps.
