Dear All,
I am looking at occupation codes in NFHS, 1992-93 round (India). I see that the individuals have been assigned to the following categories:-
prof-tech high level; prof-tech low level; admin/exec/managers; clerical; sales workers; service workers;farm, fish, hunt, log; production, transpor; household duties;students; retired persons; disabled persons; unemployed persons
This corresponds to National Classification of Occupations - 1968.
But unfortunately, this does not allow us to dig deeper. For example, consider the category 'farm, fish, hunt, log'. This category contains both cultivators as well as agricultural labourers. Similarly, the category 'Production, Transport' contains a vast types of workers - miners, weavers, tailors, shoe makers, blacksmiths, plumbers and so on.
Is there any way to figure out these details?
Thank you so much,
Ambrish
