Hello,

I am trying to recreate results for condom use at last higher risk sex for the Kenya 2009/2009 (DHS 5) survey in both men and women.

I am having a hard time recreating the denominator. The DHS report identifies those who have had 'higher risk sex in the past 12 months' as people who have had sex with someone who is not a husband, wife, or live-in partner in the past 12 months. When I look at how survey responses are coded, husband/wife=1 and live-in partner=2. However, the only way I can get the denominator to come close to the number in the final report is to classify people with a V767 or MV767 value of 2 in the denominator.

Can someone provide me with more information as to how the indicator for condom use at last sex among those who have had higher risk sex in the past 12 months ? Can someone help me understand the coding for the V767 and MV767 variables?

Thank you,
Dale
