Hi,

I'm writing because I was wondering if you could explain the 2005-06 DHS state boundaries of India. I'm combining DHS data with another data set on the state level that includes the territories Chandigarh, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Pondicherry. I want to make sure these territories were not sampled in the DHS, and if so, which state they pertain to.

Following is a response from Senior DHS Specialist, Fred Arnold:

The 2005-06 National Family Health Survey in India did not include any of the Union Territories in the sample (with the exception of Delhi, which was officially a Union Territory).
